Now Taking Suggestions...

If you've checked the Upcoming Events section of this page lately, you'll notice that there's not much scheduled in the coming months. One of the reasons for that is that we haven't had a ton of ideas lately. Blame the dead brain cells.

So in the tradition of past great ideas that generate a ton of reader response, I'd like to ask you, the Hoosier Beer Geek reader, what beers, brewpubs or breweries you'd like to see us cover. The comment lines are wide open, and operators are standing by.

  1. I've got $10 on Rodney leaving the first comment, by the way.

  2. I got $20 on Rodney leaving the only comment that's not one from one of us!

  3. How about some regional tastings? Covering Indiana Micro's, Michigan Micro's, and other mid-western states. An evening of just one state's offering's at a time.

  4. Good idea, Matt. Is your middle name Rodney by any chance?

How about something like "The Indiana Amber Ale Showdown"? We'd probably have to limit it to a style... I think trying to do all of a state's beers at once might leave us in a coma.

But blind tastings are always fun, and interesting as well. They're usually pretty eye opening as far as destroying preferences for certain brands.

Do people like showdowns? I like the word showdown. A lot.

  5. My middle name is not Rodney. It's Q. And the Q stands for Quality.

I agree with you on limiting it to certain styles, maybe no more than 3 or so.

I would also do a vintage tasting night. I have a ton of stuff ageing right now and I need to start getting rid of some of it. My beer closet might have to get moved to a beer bedroom soon.

  6. *dramatic entrance*

I like the idea of blind tastings. I also like the word showdown. Maybe a blind tasting between a macrobrew, a brewpub offering or two via growler, a couple microbrews new to the group and a couple group favorites of the style. The person pouring the blind samples would get to taste too (of course) to provide a non-blind impression to see if the brewery reputation plays any factor in things.

Also if I sign my post as Matt might that create confusion over whether I left the first comment?
