Thank You

We'd like to thank everyone involved with our HBG3 third anniversary roundtable event at Sun King. From all the folks at Sun King, to Chef JJ and his staff, to the pourers, everyone that donated beer, our friends at World Class Beverages and Cavalier Distributing, Sam and Mariah Calagione at Dogfish Head, and last but certainly not least our guests - we thank you.

We were quite happy with how things went off, but our events are an ongoing process - so if you have thoughts, suggestions, or even complaints, we'd love to hear them for the next time around. Leave us a comment! Hopefully these events will only get better with time.

Thanks again!

  1. I think my buddy Guru said best when he used the term "rip roarin'" to describe HBG3.

Best part of the night was trying the homebrews that people were passing around.

That Smoked Helles Bock was delicious and bacony.

Loved the crowd size. We need something closer to that size for Winterfest and Craftbrew Fest. I would be willing to chip in a couple extra bucks to make smaller crowds happen.

  2. Loved the event. Great sized crowd made it easy to try your favorite beers and some without waiting in long lines and fighting through crowds. I'd definitely go to more tastings and events if it was like this one!

Food was a little slow and hard to get, but tasted great!

On a side note, crazy Icelandic "beverages" weren't half bad. Still waiting for cod dogs.

  3. Wow.

Absolutely fantastic event. I've been to numerous beer events in Indiana since the first Microbrewers Festival and this was easily one of the best I've ever attended.

Bit of a shaky start, but once it got rolling, the small crowd size (higher ticket price to keep the crowds down is fine with me), fantastic beer selection (Sun King really impressed me--keep working on that DIPA!) and savory food choices (have I ever enjoyed a mushroom that much?) kept me in thrall until, well....late. I barely noticed that I had been standing for more than 7 hours on concrete.

Had some good conversations with a bunch of folks, too, including some of you HBG's.

So, kudos to all involved, and I'm looking forward to the 4th anniversary and other future events!

  4. I think we were a little afraid going in that the $30 price tag might scare some away, but everyone who attended that I talked to about it said it was a great deal. I also think the samples/tickets method worked well beyond expectations. Thanks to everyone who helped sell this thing out and have continued to support us. I hope we only see more events like this in the future!

Also don't forget that Chef JJ's place opens in Broad Ripple in the very near future and Sun King has a couple tappings this week.

  5. I thought it was pretty great. The beer selection was interesting, all the people were wonderful, and the food was good. Just need to get the food rolling faster and get some more seating and it would have been perfect. Keep prices higher and crowds lower. Looking forward to the next event!
