A heads up from The Heorot

Looks like there's a good reason to head to Muncie this December...
If you are a true "Beer Geek" you won't want to miss The Heorot's annual cellar sale!!

Stan has been in the cellar for days selecting a variety of beers for this years sale.

If you know anything about the Heorot cellar you know it would take days to go through all the cases of brew he has down there.

He has worked with World Class to create a special gift pack of 12 beers like Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, Bell's Winter White, Alpaha King, World Wide Stout, Delirium Noel just to name a few.

The sale starts on 12/1/07 and runs through 12/31/07. Remember quantities are limited.

Need more info? Call the Heorot at (765) 287-0173

THE HEOROT -
"It's all about the beer"
As we've said before, The Heorot is a Hoosier Beer Geek mecca - and it sounds like you've even got more reason to visit now.

2008 Readers Best Of Results

Although we presented you (our readers) with a very short window in which to vote, you turned out, made your voices heard, and demanded results. And here they are.

But first, we offer our thanks to everyone for voting. To the winners, we offer our congratulations. The public has spoken -- and they like you. Keep up the good work. To collect your awards, please leave a comment. If you're extra friendly, I'll order you a sticker or something. Or how about a certificate of achievement? I can do that. You'll have to buy your own frame. Believe it or not, we have even less of a budget than you do.

On with the parade:

1. Demographics

We suspected that most of our readers are from Indianapolis or the areas nearby. But we've also got at least one reader in the Virgin Islands, and a couple in Florida. You're of an average age of 33.29 years, and 19% of you are women. Yay women.

2. Which Indiana brewery is producing your favorite lineup of Indiana beers?

Your Answer:
1. Three Floyds Brewing Company - Munster - 59.8%
2. Brugge Beer and Brasserie - Indianapolis - 12.4%
3. Upland Brewing Company - Bloomington - 8.2%

Our answer: Three Floyds. A lineup that ranges from wild (Dark Lord, Alpha Kong) to mild (Gumballhead, Blackheart English IPA), consistent quality, and a generous dose of hops keep us coming back for more.

3. Which is your favorite Indiana craft beer retailer?

Your Answer:
1. Kahn's Fine Wine and Spirits - Indianapolis - 18.7%
2. (Tie) Crown Liquors - Various locations - 14.3%
2. (Tie) The Hop Shop - Indianapolis - 14.3%

Our answer: No consensus. We all live in different areas of town, which means we all shop different places. But that's a good thing - no matter where you're living in Indianapolis, good beer shouldn't be hard to find. We had votes for Kahn's, Crown, Goose the Market, Stoney's Still, and Parti Pak.

4. Which is your favorite Indiana beer bar?

Your Answer:
1. MacNiven's Restaurant and Bar - Indianapolis - 15.0%
2. Rathskeller - Indianapolis - 13.8%
3. Heorot - Muncie - 12.5%

Honorable mention: J. Gumbo's. Despite the fact that I somehow forgot to put it in the list, J. Gumbo's was just one vote shy of tying The Heorot.

Our answer: Deano's Vino. Despite a widely distributed sample of voting, Deano's Vino came up more than any other establishment. Sure, we'd love to see more taps, but the beer menu is serviceable, the confines are cozy, and (if you catch Nick on Thursday - Saturday) the friendly ribbing of the bartender is top notch. Despite visiting a lot of bars, Deano's always feels like home.

Addition votes for MacNiven's, Shallos, J. Gumbo's, The Heorot, and Rich O's.

5. Which is your favorite Indiana Brewpub?

Your Answer:
1. Brugge Brasserie - Indianapolis - 32.0%
2. Broad Ripple Brewpub - Indianapolis - 13.4%
3. Three Floyds - Munster - 9.3%

Our answer: Brugge Brasserie. A pretty close to perfect brewpub food menu, a friendly staff, fresh Black, White, and Tripel - if they could just get rid of that cantankerous owner/brewer, they'd really have something.

Just kidding - we love you, Crazy Kegs (Ted).

6. Which of the Indiana sister-state breweries (with beer in Indiana) is producing your favorite beer lineup?

Your Answer:
1. Bell's - Michigan - 39.2%
2. Founders - Michigan - 33.0%
3. Goose Island - Illinois - 7.2%

Our answer: In a close race, Founders beat out Goose Island and Bell's by just one vote.

7. Which Hoosier Beer Geek Knight of the Beer Roundtable would you like to buy a beer for first?

Your Answer:
1. You're all a bunch of bums - 54.2%
2. Kelly - 11.5%
3. Gina - 10.4%

Our answer: Everyone.
Though Jason voted for himself, Chris voted for Mike, Rod and Jess voted for each other, and Kelly and Matt voted for each other (though Matt only voted for Kelly so he could drink her beer), "Everyone" received the most votes. I'm guessing that'll be hard to collect on.

8. Are you aware of the Hoosier Beer Geek New Year's Party at Deano's Vino on Wednesday, December 31st, at 9PM(ish)? And that (in addition) we're working on a Hoosier Beer Geek Breakfast with Ted at Brugge for sometime in January? Do either of those sound like something you might attend?

Your Answer:
65.7% of you said yes. We'll hold you to your word.

We're tapping our new rye beer, Rye So Serious, on Saturday the 12th at the Indianapolis Tasting Room.  Check the blog for Bloomington tap info.

Rye-volution!
Our brand new brewing facility, full of top of the line equipment, has inspired Upland’s brewing team to make this season distinctly adventurous.

This month, on Saturday, January 12th, the Upland Indy Tasting Room will be tapping yet another never-before-seen Upland beer, Live and Let Rye.  A rye pale ale featuring Cascade and Centennial hops, this 6.5%, mildly hoppy brew is already making our mouths water.

Rye offers a grainy and interestingly spicy flavor that has been all but lost to beer since the German Reinheitsgebot declared only barley would be used in brewing in the 15th century.  Over the last few decades, however, microbrewers and homebrewers alike have become increasingly daring in experimenting with adjunct grains, and we’re no exception!  You are cordially invited to join us as we rediscover the pleasures of beer brewed with rye!

Random Beer Roundup - Peter Cottontail Edition (finally)

Computer challenges delayed the posting of this edition of Random Beer Roundup.

Easter is coming. This means that for some unfortunate bastards who gave beer up for Lent, their forty dry days are coming to an end. Hopefully, the Easter Bunny will leave bottles of beer in their basket.

Passover is in full swing. This means that for some unfortunate bastards who remain kosher, their seven dry days will come to an end Wednesday night. Hopefully, the maror will temporarily satisfy their desire for beer's bitterness.

Here is your weekly Random Beer Roundup. Remember, if you have beer news that you want to share, drop us a line at hoosierbeergeek@gmail.com.

This Friday, April 10th is the 1st ever Stone Levitation kick-off party at Yogi's in Bloomington. The event will start at 7 pm and run through the night, and will feature Stone Levitation Ale along with several other Stone everyday & special release beers. Stone Levitation has never been available in Indiana before and this event is one of 3 kick-offs in April to build anticipation for the statewide Levitation kick-off in May. Levitation is a hoppy Amber Ale, and is Stone's version of a "session beer". It has incredible depth of flavor with a fresh hop aroma and taste and a solid malt backbone. Levitation is THE perfect session beer, so try to make it out to Yogi's Friday night and Levitate your senses!

FOUNDERS BEER WEEK @ THE FICKLE PEACH NEXT WEEK!
Founders' Intents: Life, Liberty, & the pursuit of great beer.
Founders Beer week starts this Monday the 13th at the Fickle Peach in Muncie. The Fickle Peach has been a huge supporter of Founders beers since day 1 with no wavering. As a result, they have been the lucky recipients of several Founders goodies throughout the years that are very rare and highly sought after. The guys at FP have been looking for the right time to unleash these special brews and it looks like that time is next week. Starting Monday, FP will be featuring at least 5 Founders Beers on Tap including: Backwoods Bastard, Breakfast Stout, Double Trouble Imperial IPA, Imperial Stout, Dirty Bastard Scotch Ale & Dry-Hopped Pale Ale. The week will culminate with the tapping of a 5 Gallon keg of KBS on Friday the 17th @ 4 pm. Wow!

The 2nd April Levitation kick-off event will be at the Heorot in Muncie next Saturday, April 18th. This event will feature Stone Levitation Ale along with several other Stone Special Release and everyday beers. The Heorot was lucky enough to get 1 of 2 kegs of 2009 Old Guardian in the state this year. There will definitely be a keg of 2009 Old Guardian on along with some Arrogant Bastard & Ruination to accompany the Levitation as it makes its premiere in Northern Indiana. There will be some other special Stone beers there as well and this event will run throughout the day & evening.

It sounds like next weekend is the time to make a trip and stay in Muncie!!

The 3rd Levitation kick-off will actually be at 3 Floyds on Dark Lord Day on the 25th. 3 Floyds will have Stone Levitation available on draft for Dark Lord Day along with a keg of Stone beer never before bottled or seen in Indiana!! All we can say now is that it's vintaged and it's barrel-aged.
Dogfish Head Brewing recently re-redesigned their website.

CURRENT & UPCOMING SEASONAL BEERS
We're currently offering a trio of much-sought-after seasonal beers: Marley's VSOP, Digby's Irish Stout and Equinox Ale. Marley's VSOP is a Baltic style porter (VSOP stands for very special old porter) that has been aged for three months on Jack Daniels barrel wood. The Digby's Irish Stout is a classic dry stout- smooth, dark and creamy when served from our authentic beer engines. The Equinox Ale is our salute to spring and is a hearty and hoppy ale featuring a refreshing citrusy hop blast contributed by massive additions of Amarillo and Centennial hops. Hurry down for a taste as both of these seasonals will go quickly.

On deck in the world of LBC seasonals, we've got a batch of our delicious Maifest. Brewed in the mode of a Munich Dunkel, this malty lager features hearty quantities of dark Munich and a dash of crystal malt balanced out with Willamette and German-grown Saphir hops. Look for a tapping around the first of May. Also, look for a cask-conditioned, dry-hopped sneak preview of the Maifest to be featured for Firkin Thursday on Thursday, April 30.

From Greg at Cavalier Distributing in Indianapolis:
There are some exciting beers hitting the market and several incredible beer events going on this next week, so enjoy!

The week of April 6th is the official kick-off for the 2009 Stone Imperial Russian Stout. Stone IRS started hitting the market this week and you should be able to find it at any craft beer outlet that supports Stone Brewing throughout the year. There is a very limited amount that hit the state and it is drinking absolutely incredible, so make sure you get out and get some now. For those of you who put stock in ratings, a "100" Ratebeer and "A" Beer Advocate Rating aren't too shabby either...

Also new to the market is a new series of Berghoff Beers called the Berghoff Artisan Series. The first release in this Arisan Series is the Berghoff Artisan Blond Ale. This Blond Ale is crisp, full-flavored and balanced with a higher ABV than all other Berghoff Beers. The Artisan Series was created in an effort to showcase some higher qualilty, small batch beers from Berghoff. Berghoff Artisan Blond starting hitting the market this week and should be available for you to try.

Homebrewing:

From Anita at Great Fermentations in Indianapolis:
Brett Fusion Yeast Strains Are Now Available. The next 3 in the VSS series are all Belgian inspired Brett fusions.

3763 Roeselare: This blend of lambic cultures produces beer with a complex, earthy profile and a distinctive pie-cherry sourness. Ageing for up to 18 months is required for the full range of flavors and acidity to develop. This yeast will produce a very dry profile due to the super attenuative nature of the mixed cultures.

3789 Trappist Blend: A unique blend of Belgian Saccharomyces and Brettanomyces for emulating Trappist style beer from the Florenville region in Belgium. Phenolics, mild fruitiness and complex spicy notes develo with increased fermentation temperatures. This yeast has a subdued but classic Brett character.

5151 Brettanomyces claussinii: Isolated from English stock ale, this wild yeast produces a mild Brett character with overtones of tropical fruit and pineapple. It ferments best in worts with a reduced pH after primary fermentation has begun. It may form a pellicle in bottles and is typically used in conjunction with other yeast and lactic acid bacteria.

Beer Diary #18 - Loose Ends Edition

So I was looking through my notebook and found a bunch of random notes - the kind of notes perfect for the beer diary format. I highly recommend the keeping of beer notes, as it gives an air of professionalism to the act of working your way toward drunkenness. At least that's my excuse.

And here we go.

18 October 09
Location: The Heorot, Muncie, IN

New Belgium Hoptober
- I'd imagine if you look around you can still find this one here and there - it's one of the first New Belgium beers to expand past the initial New Belgium offerings from back in April. Although I'm not a Fat Tire fan, I am a fan of a lot of New Belgium's beers, and seeing one on tap at the Heorot seemed like good enough reason to take notes.

Hoptober as served in a Bell's Glass

Hoptober is a clear golden colored beer, with heavy lacing, and a lightly fruity (maybe strawberry and orange?) hoppy nose. There's a lightly hopped flavor on front and a slightly chewy and malty back to finish the beer out. It's a nice grocery store kind of pale ale - not too offensive, but not exactly great, either.

12 November 09
Location: Brugge Brasserie

Brugge Hibernal Black
- It seems odd that as I write this more than a month later, we still haven't roundtabled Brugge's Hibernal Black, especially considering the scores we gave the regular Black way back when. For those of you familiar with the regular Black, Hibernal Black is Black on steroids - an Imperial version of the beer many of us love. There's no hiding from this beer - it's a giant winter Belgian monster - the ass-kicking Arenberg Forest (which, I know, is actually in France) of Brugge beers.

I like cycling references.

Magic Hat Odd Notion Winter 09
- Here's a beer that looks like a ginger ale when poured in the glass - a dark transparent brownish gold color with little head. The nose is fermented apple, and maybe a hint of sourdough bread. The front is bitter like vinegar, and the finish is bready and lingering sour apple - there's not any sort of sweetness, just old apple cider flavor. Despite being only 4.5% ABV, the beer is heavy in mouthfeel.

I'm not sure I like this - it's sort of a sour beer with training wheels - but Gina finished her half in no time.

Magic Hat Howl Winter Seasonal - Another sort of training wheels beer, this one takes on the smoke beer category. A deep dark brown color and a healthy head show up in the glass, and a nose of pretzels, roasted malt, and maybe a hint of root beer await. The beer starts and finishes smokey, but it's not that overpowering smoke that you'd get out of something like a Schlenkerla. If you've ever wanted to try a smoke beer, or found that you didn't it when you did try, you might give this one a shot. It's got that light lager mouthfeel and only gets better the warmer it gets.

The Magic Hat beers in this diary were provided to me for sampling by the Magic Hat Brewery, South Burlington, VT. I received the beer under no obligation to review it.

Ready Heorot, here we come!

We're jumping off the schedule this Saturday and taking a little road trip up I-69 to Muncie to check out the fabled Heorot Pub and Draughthouse, home to hundreds of beers on draft and in the bottle and the usual home for The Good Beer Show. I've been to the bar before on several occassions when hanging out with my friend Traci from the GBS, and it really is awesome. It's got great chartacter & atmosphere, and a beer list that will blow your mind. We've been talking for months about starting to roadtrip out of Indy for some reviews, and due to the fact that I'll be a childless bachelor this weekend, at least Mike, Gina, and I are seizing the opportunity.

Your Better Beer Story

One of the things I always enjoy talking to people about is where they are in their craft beer adventure. You get to meet people who have been drinking better beer for decades as well as people just getting into better beer along with all points in-between.

I know that some people find the amazing choices we have right now a little intimidating when getting into better beer. I was in a Binny's in Chicago over Thanksgiving weekend, and for some reason it hit me how hard I think it would be for someone to start getting into better beer now. I was stopped by a very nice and humble gentleman who asked me for help when he saw me taking far too long to decide what to buy. His nephew had brought "some Chicago beer" to Thanksgiving that he really enjoyed, and he was now looking for it in the store. I took him over to the Chicago beer section, and he quickly saw the label for the beer he was looking for: Revolution's Eugene Porter. His exact words to me were, "This is all overwhelming." We got to talking about his beer preferences and how he stuck to what he knew when he went to the liquor store or to the bar. It wasn't that he didn't want to try other things, but the selection process was a little daunting to him. He also didn't want to spend 8 to 12 bucks for a beer he might not like. I was at that point not too terribly long ago, and I forgot how I was the same way. I'm still very hesitant to pull the trigger on a $10+ four pack or sixer of something that I've never tried. It just got me thinking about my own craft beer journey, and I often forget truly how much is out there right now. It is hard for me to choose most of the time, and I know what I like!

I got into better beer before I was in 21 and was still in college. I got a job at the local Sears and worked with a guy who was a beer nut. I had been drinking cheap keg beer and the cheapest case from the liquor store at that point. I wonder if people look at me the way I looked at him when I first met him? He was crazy about beer. He talked about it, attended beer tasting events, bought all kinds of crazy beers I had never heard of, and took special trips to breweries on the weekends just to taste their beer. I remember thinking, "Man, this guy is crazy. It's just beer." Lucky for me, I told him just that and he invited me over frequently to try new beers. He showed me how to taste a beer, what I was looking for in the beer, how the brewing process worked, and he helped me to begin thinking about quality over quantity. I was bitten by the beer bug right there.

I still had a problem at this point though, and I looked at beer like Beavis and Butthead looked at life. Either it sucked or it did not suck. I didn't know much about the beer I was drinking. The style, IBUs, brewer etc... I didn't really have a clue about the difference between a lager and an ale or a pale ale and a Russian imperial stout. I owe that honor to two places in Muncie. Every Wednesday you could find me and a few friends at Scotty's for $5 dollar pitchers of anything on tap. Scotty's always had a really good selection of better beer even 10 years ago before the beer boom really happened. Each round we would try something different, and I began to understand the differences between pales, porters, and browns etc... I began to enjoy hops, and at the time I didn't enjoy heavily malt forward beers. What really changed me though was when I discovered the Heorot. Every Friday you could find me in there for $2 pizza and usually $2 something on tap. I can't remember how many taps they had back in 2002/2003, but it was 40+ at least and they didn't have any Bud, Miller, or Coors beers. I was really impressed, and I still am by the Heorot. I simply started at one side of the tap list, and by the end of the school year, I had worked through most of their draft list and repeated my favorites many times. I would have a beer that I really liked and when I got back home would find out anything I could about the beer and the brewery. I began reading more about styles, the brewing process, and anything else I could get my hands on. I'm certainly not saying you have to do that for enjoyment reasons, but that is part of how I got into beer.

I didn't drink much beer after I graduated from college, and I didn't really miss it honestly, but one fateful day my best friend gave me a bottle of Bell's Two-Hearted Ale. It was the moment that pushed me back down the rabbit hole. I have not really looked back since then.

If you are just getting into better beer or have ever felt overwhelmed with the selection available around town, I offer these few pieces of advice that worked for me:
  • Try flights when you go to a brewery or tap room. This will give you a great sample of what the brewery has to offer and an easy way to try small samples of many beers instead of ordering an entire pint of something you may not enjoy. Some bars now even offer the opportunity to do flights. It's a great way to try many things. I still do this today at every single new brewery that opens up. You can tell a great deal about the quality of a place by running through their beers.
  • Ask for a sample before you order. Most places are usually happy to do it from a customer service standpoint. I've seen places charge to do this, but I would much rather pay 25 cents or 50 cents for a sample than 6 bucks for a pint of something I may not like.
  • Find a liquor store that lets you break up six or four packs. When I moved to Indianapolis, I went to a place on the south side called Parti-Pak. They still allow you to break up anything and buy it as a single. That is a great and economical way to sample many things without having to go all out on a full six or four pack. I used to create a mix six in the same styles. I would do a sixer of IPAs, pales, Scottish ales, and anything else I wanted and would sample them that way.
  • Go to beer festivals and events. The great thing about a beer festival is that you can try many things, talk with the brewer, and get information on beers and styles you enjoy
  • Come to a Hoosier Beer Geek Tail Gate for Nothing. This is a great opportunity to talk with fun beer people that truly enjoy sharing the beer experience. You can see the twinkle in someone's eye when they hear, "I'm just getting into better beer." You say those words, and I know you will have plenty of things to sample in no time flat.
  • If you really want to take your knowledge further, I think the best book ever written on beer is Randy Mosher's Tasting Beer. That book changed the way I look at beer and the tasting experience for the better. (*Disclosure: I wasn't given anything to say that. I really think it is the best beer book I've ever read on tasting and understanding beer).
  • Indiana has a number of groups doing great things in the beer community as well. Check out Girls Pint Out, Indiana Beer, Indiana Beer Barons, and many more that I'm not aware of.
  • Have fun! Even though I can be a crusty curmudgeon sometimes, better beer is still a ton of fun for me, and it is the people and experience involved in the beverage that keep me coming back. It helps that we have more breweries than ever before brewing some of the best beer that I've had the pleasure of drinking.
Ultimately, beer can be whatever you want it to be. It doesn't have to be pretentious, stuffy, or require an encyclopedic knowledge for enjoyment. It is as simple as either it sucks or it doesn't to some and for people like me I want to dive in and know about the style, brewery, ingredients, and any other background knowledge.

If you have the time please let me know about your beer journey.  How did you get into beer and what keeps you in the beer community? Any advice for others?

Cheers!

Matt

The Hoosier Beer Geek 2010 End of Year Readers Survey: RESULTS!

Here we are in year five of this HBG adventure, and there's nothing more obvious to me than the fact that it's getting better all the time.

For part one of the 2010 year-end readers survey results, I thought it might interesting to compare this year to the previous two. Last year we had pretty graphs; this year we switched our survey software and the graphs didn't come together very well. Oh well.

Demographics

This year's average reader age was 34.04, and we've grown our female readership to 14% from last year's 12.5%. 94% of our readers are Indiana residents, followed by Illinois (4%), with readers from Arizona, DC, Kentucky, Massachusetts, and Missouri also weighing in.

2009
Average Age: 34.30, 12.5% female
Indiana 91.8%, Illinois 2.46%, Missouri 1.64%
2008
Average Age: 33.29, 19% female

This year we also kept track of education and income level, and those numbers look like this:

Highest Level of Education Completed

High School Dropout 0%
High School Graduate / GED 3%
Some College / Trade School 15%
Associate's Degree 6%
Bachelor's Degree 48%
Master's Degree 15%
Doctorate Degree 10%
Imperial Doctorate Degree 0%

No one bit on my (apparently stupid) Imperial Doctorate Degree joke.

Income Level

$0 - $25000 5%
$25000 - $40000 15%
$40000 - $60000 27%
$60000 - $80000 14%
$80000 - $100000 12%
$100000 - up 9%

A high percentage of you make a lot more money than I do. If you're hiring...

Other websites

According to the data, 67% of our readers also visit BeerAdvocate. Makes sense to me. The numbers continue below.

We installed a new 150 bbl fermentation tank on Tuesday that we've christened Gigantor! He's twice the size of our other tanks and will allow us to keep up with growing demand from craft beer lovers like you. Gigantor is actually taller than the brewery, so you can see it sticking out of the roof from the parking lot. (And no, that wasn't a measuring mistake, it was part of the plan.) Stop by between 3 and 5pm Saturday or Sunday to take a tour and check it out!
At the Bar

From Jordan at the Beer Sellar in Indianapolis:
New Drafts are:

Bells Winter White- offers a lighter yet abundantly flavorful alternative to the traditional heavy winter warmers. Fermented with a Belgian ale yeast, this blend of barley & wheat malts yields a mixture of clove and fruity aromas, all without the use of any spices.

Bluegrass Brewing Company Bourbon Barrel Stout- A Silky American Stout delicately aged in 2005 Bourbon barrels for approximately 60 days. The malt sweetness is perfectly balanced by the roast barley and a nice hint of bourbon flavor and aroma. The bourbon barrel stout was first brewed December 22, 2005

House Beers
Oompa Lupulin - You'll feel like you've just won the Golden Ticket when you drink this everlasting hop stopper. Oompa Lupulin is a fizzy lifting beer with humble malt characteristics that allow the notes of citrus, resin and earth to shine from the healthy hop additions of Simcoe and Falconers Flight. This pale ale will drive you Wonkers! 5.4% ABV 45 IBUs

Goldie Hops - American Golden Ale brewed with Marris Otter, wheat, and some crystal malt. Lightly bittered with Magnum and Czech Saaz. With this combination, the beer is crisp, refreshing, and approachable to all kinds of beer drinkers. 5.2% ABV 26 IBU

Hook Up - A hybrid between a Radler and a Shandy. We call it a Shandler. It's our golden ale blended with a locally made, citrus forward soda. A delicious and refreshing beverage for a hot summer day. 4% ABV 7 IBU
Emerald Circle - Made by Northwest Hopheads, for Midwest Hopheads. This aggressive IPA is brewed with Maris Otter base malt along with Light Crystal, Aromatic and Vienna malts to add complexity to the malt bill. From here we get a bit heavy handed with our hop additions, which are early and often. The laundry list of hops includes: Cascade, Chinook, Columbus and Centennial. Which are added throughout the boil and then later dry hopped. 6.5% ABV 83 IBU
Horse Power - This house beer is a Double Pale Ale which lives up to its name. Maris Otter starts out our grist, followed by some Munich, Aromatic, and Light Crystal malts. For this beer we bittered with Magnum and Centennial, followed by late kettle additions of Cascade, Crystal and Styrian Golding hops which adds a depth of flavor and complexity to this beer. 7.3% ABV 63 IBU
Working Title Wheat - The official beer of Hoosier Park Casino in Anderson (Known as the 'Dan Patch Ale' there). Citrus dominates the front end of the nose, followed by tropical fruit in the finish. Working Title is bittered with Chinook, followed by late kettle additions of Motueka and Rakau hops from New Zealand. The mouthfeel of this beer is achieved through generous amounts of white wheat, along with European specialty malts. 5.3% ABV 50 IBU

Beer Description: A dark and robust beer brewed in the traditional stout method. Teddy Bear Kisses features an abundance of dark malts and high alpha hops for a powerful impact of roast, chocolate, and sweet bitterness. The lucky few who cuddle up to a warming session with Bourbon Barrel Teddy Bear Kisses, can sense the velvety malt character, balanced bitter intensity, and soothing chocolate notes created by long aging on fair trade cocoa nibs. This tasty brew is then aged in bourbon barrels giving it subtle vanilla and oak notes to warm you through the cold winter season. ABV: 10.2 IBU: 7.6 SG: 21 SRM: 47.1
Harvest Ale will be available on draught and in 4-packs starting in early October.
Beer Description : An American Pale Ale by design with a hop back of freshly harvested Citra hops.
