What's Brewing
From Roger at New Albanian Brewing Co in New Albany:
...It's called N.A.B.cieged, and we ask the English majors among you to forgive the spelling. It's not a Black Eyed Peas contributor. The idea is to have as many as possible of our own NABC beers on tap at one time at the Pizzeria & Pub. The event will last as long as the kegs do, and then the remaining kegs from Saturnalia will be put on tap alongside the customary guest regulars and what has become a permanently expanded NABC repertoire. ... more at the Potable Curmudgeon
NABC's allotment of the collaboration (Schlafly, O'Fallon, and New Albanian) ale will be headed this way soon. I'm under the impression that we'll have four kegs for our two establishments, and that a wee bit will be poured at the forthcoming Indiana Microbrewers Winterfest in Indianapolis on January 30.
N.A.B.Cieged kicks off January 8

From Charles at Upland Brewing Co. in Bloomington:
Upland Brewing Co. is proud to announce the release of a new seasonal beer, Komodo Dragonfly Black IPA.
Komodo Dragonfly Black IPA is a well-balanced, dark, bitter, and totally unique beer experience. We brewed this IPA with a base of fresh Pilsner Malts and darkened the color with pure Black Malts, creating a clean malt character that allows the liberal hop additions to shine through. Komodo is dry hopped and aged with a pinch of lavender to add to the overall aromatic experience. Komodo Dragonfly is available seasonally in 1/2 bbl. kegs, 1/6 bbl. kegs, and six-pack bottles. 6.5% ABV, 65.5 IBUs, 15.5 S.G.
We're unleashing the Komodo Dragonfly in our Bloomington Tap Room on January 13th. Look for it in six-pack bottles and on draught wherever Upland is sold shortly thereafter!
Upland is taking part in the "Brewmaster's Dinner" at the Canyon Inn, McCormick's Creek state park on January 16th. Our Head Brewer, Caleb Staton, will lead a tasting of four Upland beers, discuss the brewing of beer, and answer any questions you've ever had about brewing but have been too afraid to ask. Dinner will feature a range of excellent dishes prepared with Upland beer.
The package includes an overnight stay at the Inn, so you can make the most of your Brewmaster's experience.

At the Bar
From Patrick at Patrick's Kitchen and Drinks:
We had a great kickoff to our "Thursdays with Tom) last night. He broke out some Epic Ales from Stone. We reviewed the '04,'05,'06,'07, and the '09. Well attended especially considering the weather. From Sam at BW3's (Downtown Indianapolis):
Okay, now as far as what's happening at Patrick's. Count on "Thursdays with Tom" continuing, and next week we are doing the 10th Anniv. Ale from Stone. On tap right now is Bell's Rye Stout, Sun King Cream Dream, Victory Hop Wallop, Sun King Osiris Pale, and Breckenridge's 471 Dbl IPA...heavy on the hops you say? Yes, actually we are. Being delivered today and tapped very soon, as in probably today....is Bell's HopSlam...Yippee!!

From Corrie at Goose the Market in Indianapolis:
New to the cellar...
- The latest limited release from Boulevard Brewing Company's
Smokestack Series lives up to its name. This Bourbon Barrel Quad is
not too sweet but ripe with tart cherries and vanilla-bourbon
goodness.
- Because beer lovers are fans of the planet, too...from Brasserie
Dupont--the first Belgian beer endowed with the USDA Organic
seal--Foret Saison tastes good, too.
- The father of foam, Ferran Adria is the Spanish chef who serves
liquid chicken and solid sauce. He partnered with the Barcelona
brewery Estrella Damm to craft Inedit, a (liquid) beer with just a
touch of coriander and orange peel to balance the complex yeast and
hops.
- Three Floyds' latest seasonal--Black Sun--is like winter's silver lining.
From John at Big Red Liquors in Bloomington:
It is that time of year. Bells HopSlam should be hitting the streets this week late or beginning of next week. Also, Brooklyn Black Ops is coming soon. Better get out and ask your favorite beer retailer if you want some.
