Looking for Reader Suggestions...Again

We, the Knights of the Beer Roundtable, have done more than we could have imagined back in 2006, when Hoosier Beer Geek sprouted up. We've held at least a dozen (if not more) craft beer events for you, our readers; posted weekly news about beer happenings around the state; and interviewed some of the key figures from the craft beer scenes in Indiana and elsewhere. Further, we've happily teamed up with the Brewers of Indiana Guild in an attempt to bring you fun and valuable beer experiences each year at the Indiana Microbrewers Festival and the BIG Winterfest.

But when the KOTBR's dear godfather, Chris Maples, started this blog, he had one primary goal in mind: to drink beer--especially beer brewed here in Indiana--and to tell you what we think about that beer. Unfortunately, we haven't been so diligent lately in pursuing this goal. In fact, you might have noticed that the frequency which with we've held beer roundtables and published beer reviews has decreased a bit. Part of the reason for this is that we've become so busy with our other Hoosier Beer Geek activities. While we are very thankful that the Indiana craft beer community is so vibrant that we now have our hands full with it, we'd nonetheless like to pick up the pace on the roundtables.

Therefore, as we did back in early 2009, we ask for your help now. We ask you to tell us where you think we should have a roundtable. More specifically, we'd like you to suggest an Indiana bar or brewpub that we haven't visited yet--a place that we've overlooked but that deserves our attention.

The last time we did this, HBG reader Andy told us that we ought to visit the Dorman Street Saloon. We took Andy up on his suggestion and invited him to come out with us. That he did, and we had great experience when we visited not only Dorman Street, but also Ralph's Great Divide.

So if you have a favorite Indiana watering hole that you think we should visit, leave a comment below with your suggestion. Our standards are still the same: we're looking for a place that serves high-quality beer. We'd love to hear your suggestions, and we'd love to have you join us for a drink in the process. So, drop us a line.

  2. I would love to take a trip up there. I went to school at Ball State and always went to the Heorot on Friday's for 2$ pizzas and a pint of great beer. The Fickle Peach opened the year after I left, and I need to make it to Savage's. I used to work with Joel in Muncie when I graduated. I am really happy to see him doing well.

  3. If I'm not mistaken, Mike and Gina sat in with the Good Beer Show crew at the Heorot several years back, but we've not roundtabled there. But I agree Matt - we should go.

  6. Carrie from Upland is coming to Goose the Market's Enoteca Tuesday, Oct. 19, 5-7pm to pour Teddy Bear Kisses Imperial Stout...first time they're bottling it, I think, and Tuesday is the release day. Plus it's free! She's supposed to have Komodo Black IPA and three others, too. Short notice, but it'd be great to see the HBG there!

  7. Black Swan in Plainfield. They won't be brewing until January but they have the best Indiana beer lineup in Hendricks County. The food is great too.
