Trying
Rogue's Mocha Porter for the first time. It was named Supreme Champion of the 2005 International Beer Competition, and if that wasn't reason enough to try it, it combines two of my favorite beverages - mocha and beer.
It's a dark brown color. It leaves a rather bitter aftertaste, even after a few drinks. It's heavy, and kind of creamy. Rich in taste, but I can't honestly say this is one of my favorite porters.
I've never been a big fan of Rogue beers. I've tried several and just am not impressed.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a problem with heavy or creamy. But bitter is not what I look for in a beer. If you haven't yet, try the Old Leghumper Porter. There is a definite coffee flavor that I can pick out of it. Very malty. Very tasty.
ReplyDeleteJim - I've generally liked the Rogue I've tried - especially the Dead Guy Ale. And don't get me wrong - I'll finish my six-pack - but I don't think I'll be repurchasing.
ReplyDeleteJason - I did try the Old Leghumper on your rec, and I really like it. Want to try some more from Thirsty Dog.
Jeffrey - Sign me up! Tell Traci I said hi!
