From Patrick at Patrick’s Kitchen in Zionsville:
It's all about the beer 'round here! IPA's rule the roost lately with Fist Full of Hops on from Sun King, when it blows it is replaced by Sun King's Popcorn Pils which we had the last time they made it and it's crispy and delicious. Bell's Oberon is on, Dark Horse's Crooked Tree Double IPA is going fast, to be replaced by Dreadnaught, rounding it out is the Belgian Style Farmhouse Tank 7 from Boulevard Brewing....on Nitro mind you. Upland's Double Dragon Fly is representing Bloomington this month.
Oh Yeah!...Just ordered a 1/2 Barrel from Sun King of "A Few Hops More" which promises to be their hoppiest beer to date.... Lots of Magnum Hops ...like 80# in 30 bbls!

Carry Out

Welcome to the 2011 Indiana State Fair Brewers’ Cup — Entries Are Now Open
The Indiana State Fair Brewers’ Cup is one of the largest competitions in the country. We have two separate divisions, Homebrew and Professional. We had 961 entries last year and are hoping to break 1000 in 2011. All of our judges are BJCP qualified.

Best of Show homebrewer will get the opportunity to brew the winning recipe at the Broad Ripple Brewpub, and Homebrewer of the Year will receive a Blichmann Boilermaker brew pot. Homebrew Club of the Year will receive a traveling trophy, banner, and bragging rights. MECA has won the Homebrew Club of the Year trophy three years in a row, so let’s see if a different club can take the trophy from them this year.

In the Professional Division, the Champion Brewery will receive a large trophy sponsored by the Brewers of Indiana Guild.

Entries are now open so it’s time to get your beer to Sun King for this year’s Brewers’ Cup. This web site is your source for the official rules and interactive, printable bottle tags/labels. Entries may be shipped (UPS preferred) to Sun King, 135 North College Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46202, or hand carried. The tasting room at Sun King is very busy on Fridays and Saturdays, so we will have a couple of volunteers holding State Fair signs to direct you to the east side of the building (once in the parking lot, go north around the building to the east side). After dropping off your entries, you can go in the front door and pick up a growler or three. For business hours call Sun King (317-602-3702) or visit their web site. Entries will close at 7:00 pm on Friday, June 24, 2011.
