From Eric at 21st Amendment in Broad Ripple:
I was happy to see a lot of new faces checking out our new high end canned beer section last week. Don't forget that it's now a year-round fixture in our store. That means any time you need good beer for the pool, the lake, the track, the golf course or even just tailgating, we've got you covered!
New beer this week: Sierra Nevada Southern Hemisphere Ale. It's the only fresh hop beer available during the summer months. How do they do it you ask? They go to New Zealand to harvest the hops and ship them back to their brewery in Chico, CA so you don't have to go the whole summer without a Harvest Ale. We've also gotBrooklyn Local 2. It's a Belgian-inspired bottle-conditioned strong dark abbey ale, with sweet orange peel and raw wildflower honey from a local family apiary.
Don't forget I've got 10 offerings from Dogfish Head. I Love their Indian Brown Ale. It's a big brown ale with a nice hop presence that makes it a cross between a Scotch Ale, an I.P.A. and an American Pale. We've got it in 6-packs and single 12oz bottles. Give one a try this weekend.

Botanical Brew & Q in Fort Wayne

The Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory will be holding the annual Brew & Q on June 13th. Some changes to the program, the addition of some demonstrations and a live Best of Show judging will be great improvements to the event. Tickets are only $5 and include sample tickets. I'm not sure what breweries have committed at this point. I'm sure that MABC is involved, though. They're doing the barbecue.

  2. weavr: did you see there was a filing for a microbrewery permit at 402 Dorman St?

Here are the minutes from the Holy Cross neighborhood association about the upcoming microbrewery.

Flat 12 business owners Sean O’Connor and Rob Caputo presented their request for support for a zoning variance which will allow them to turn the building at 414 Dorman into a microbrewery. They took questions from neighbors.

Q – What about trucks? A – box trucks will come by once a week to deliver materials, other box trucks will pick up beer once a day.

Q – what will be the retail hours? A – 5-8 pm two times a week. Their primary business model is to sell to restaurants and retail stores.

Q – Open on Sunday? A – Maybe on Sunday afternoons.

    Q – Number of employees? A – just 2 for now, 4-7 later.

The neighborhood association agreed to support the zoning variance and welcomed Flat 12 to the neighborhood.

  3. Thanks Justin! I saw the zoning approval in the Urban Times (I misspoke when I said it was a permit) and it took me by surprise.

I think this is the same brewery that earlier in the year announced they were doing all organic, is that correct?

  4. I see something about a trademark associated with Flat 12 Bierwerks

It does not say it is on Dorman St though. I love the juicy brewery news. Thank you Sun King for sparking a brewery revolution in this city.

  5. As long as these new breweries make great beer it will be great. I just hope that Sun King's sucess (that is not typical for a brewery) isn't bringing out those that just want to try and cash in and end up neglecting the beer.
