Random Beer Roundup - The Great American Beer Fest Edition

To all of you in Denver for the Great American Beer Festival this weekend - have fun! Good luck to those with entries, we hope too see lots of hardware come back to the state!

They are competing to win a grant from the Pepsi Refresh program and when they win, they will be able to utilize a new space in the Murphy Art Building for live shows, art galleries, and other cool stuff including beer events. The first and hopefully annual Louisville Craft Beer Week commences on Friday, September 24 and runs through the following Saturday (October 2).
LCBW is a collaborative effort on the part of Louisville area brewing companies, wholesalers, retailers, and numerous beer lovers in various shapes and sizes. The event is modeled on similar celebrations in places like Philadelphia and Cleveland, and no matter the locale, the intent remains the same: To showcase the incredible variety and expanding market presence of craft brewing in America.

Oaktoberfest is this Saturday. For $20, you get all you can eat German buffet, 2 drinks, and a Oaktoberfest souvenir. It will be held in our Beer Garden from noon to 4 P.M.. Check out the info listed previously on HBG (added below) about our Oktober-Feast 2010 on October 16th. Chef Steven Anderson and Head Brewer Andrew Castner are teaming up to create a Fall-flavored tasting experience.

The RAM Indianapolis is excited to announce Oktober-Feast 2010, a beer and food tasting to celebrate all of the wonderful flavors of Fall. On Saturday, October 16th, Head Chef, Steven Anderson, will team up with Head Brewer, Andrew Castner, to present a multiple course Food and Beer pairing event featuring a delicate Carmelized Onion Tart with Smokey Bleu Cheese, Walnuts, and Sage, an entrée of Braised Osso Bucco with Maple Mashed Sweet Potatoes followed by a delectable apple Tarte Tatin for dessert. This fantastic menu will be paired with our tantalizing Fall beer favorites including Pie’d Piper Pumpkin Ale, Big Horn Oktoberfest, and a sneak peak at our yet-to-be-released American Nut Brown Ale. Come by or call our downtown location at 317-955-9900 to obtain tickets. The event will be limited to 40 guests and introductions will start at 4:30 pm.

Big Horn Oktoberfest and Aries American Wheat are now on tap, and Pie’d Piper Pumpkin Ale and Blue Pride German Pilsner are in the fermenters. Also, keep an eye out for a yet-to-be-named American Nut Brown Ale.

2 Beer or not to 2 Beer? That is the question.

Upland is hosting a tailgate at Lucas Oil Stadium for the Colts' Home Season Opener. We'll start up at 2 pm, Sunday, September 19 in the South Lot. Just look for my "Upland Mobile." We'll have a grill set up and complimentary beer samples, but we encourage fellow tailgaters to bring something to share with others whether it be beer or food. Kick off is at 8:20 pm.

Friday, October 1, 5-7 pm, the Indiana Humanities Council is hosting author Rita Kohn and complimentary tasting for the release of her book on Indiana beer, "True Brew." Upland and Sun King will be on hand with samples of their beer.

Sunday, October 3, come up to Trader's Point Creamery as they host their annual Oktoberfest. Polka Boy will be performing and Upland brews will be flowing. Event starts at Noon.

Saturday, Oct. 2nd, noon-5pm: Valpo Brewfest: Upland will be sampling beer alongside other Indiana and guest breweries at the first ever Valpo Brewfest in Valparaiso, Indiana, which is expected to be the largest beer festival in Northwest Indiana. Participants will be able to cast their vote for the Hoosier Brew award - the best beer made in Indiana!

For our Hoosier Beer Geeks visiting far-away places this weekend, Upland is pouring our WBC Silver Award-winning Oktoberfest, WBC Bronze Award-winning Helios Pale Ale, Ard Ri, Nut Hugger, UpCup winner ALT-ered State Altbier, and Kiwi lambic at GABF.
And for those of you travelling to Racine for Great Lakes Brewfest, we'll have Wheat Ale, Bad Elmer's Porter, and Oktoberfest.

For the first time ever you the customers can choose our first Beer of the Month Draft. We have Victory Brewery's Golden Monkey, HopDevil Ale, Prima Pils, and Hop Wallop bottles. During the next two weeks whichever bottle sells the most will become our first Beer of the Month on Draft starting Monday October 4th. Come down and drink your vote.
