Upland has gone beer crazy! We've released a bunch of beers over the course of a few weeks and there is more to come. So here's what's on tap:
Malcolm & Margaret 70/ Scottish Ale
Named for a historic and literary Scottish king and queen, Malcolm and Margaret is a 70/ (Shilling) Scottish Ale, rich with caramel notes and a soft brown color makes for an easy drinking yet flavorful beer. This is the winner of Upland’s homebrew competition UpCup, devised and brewed by Indianapolis local Andrew Korty. This has been in the Indy Tasting Room and Bloomington Tap Room for a few weeks, but you'll see it pop up at a few of your favorite spots around Indy in the coming weeks. 3.5% ABV • 14 IBUs Draft only
Harvest Ale
Upland’s Harvest Ale is an American Pale Ale by design, but an even more vibrant rendition by loading up our hopback with freshly harvested Citra hops. Expect huge wafts of tropical fruit notes, balanced by a moderate bitterness and light toasted malt character. A showcase for one of our four favorite ingredients and a delight for all the hopheads out there. 35 IBU • 5.5% ABV We released a small bit of this last year, but we've decided to jump in and make it a regular seasonal this year. Available in six packs and on draft.
Teddy Bear Kisses
Teddy Bear Kisses features an abundance of dark malts and high alpha hops for a powerful impact of roast, chocolate, and sweet bitterness. The lucky few who cuddle up to a warming session with Teddy Bear Kisses sense the velvety malt character, balanced bitter intensity, and soothing chocolate notes created by long aging on fair trade cocoa nibs. 11.5% ABV • 80+ IBUs Available in 22 oz. bottles and draft.
COMING SOON:
"Little Sebastian" Extra Special Bitter
I don't have a lot of information on this. This will primarily be available in coming weeks at the Indy Tasting Room and Bloomington Tap Room. Now that we have all this new space at our new Bloomington facility, we can start playing around with pilot batches. The sales & marketing team affectionately have named it "Little Sebastian", but it is officially our ESB.
Double Dragonfly Imperial IPA
Double Dragonfly makes its triumphant return after almost a year of not being on shelves. It will be available in 22 oz. bottles and draft. Look for it the week of Halloween.
Events:
Indy Tasting Room is tapping Teddy Bear Kisses on Saturday, October 20 and Harvest Ale Saturday, October 27. And yes, TBK will be available for growler sales.
Saturday, October 13 is Broad Ripple Music Fest! Join us at Kilroy's for the Upland Stage or enjoy the shows throughout the village. We're tapping Harvest Ale at Chumley's and TBK at Za on Saturday. We'll also have Dragonfly IPA and Preservation Pilsner on draft at Sabbatical. You'll also be able to get Upland beers at all venues of BRMF.
Cari will be at Mass Ave Pub on Weds., Oct. 17 for Trivia & Tappings. We'll have on TBK, Harvest, and a couple others. Upland prizes and beer related questions will be included. Cari just wrote a final for her class, so she's got some good ones.
Cari will also be at Goose the Market on Thursday, Oct. 14, sampling Harvest Ale and TBK.
Speaking of that final...
This is unrelated to Upland business, but I wanted to mention that I teach a class at Ivy Tech called Intro to Beer Service. It is a 100-level course designed to teach people the basics needed for service jobs in our growing craft beer industry. You learn about the history of beers, a wide variety of beer styles, how to pair beer and food together, how to identify off-flavors in beer, draft tech and much more. This class follows the Certified Beer Server program through Cicerone.org, and strongly helps you prepare for the exam. If you aren't already a student of Ivy Tech, you can register just to take this class.
If anyone would like to know more about the program, they can contact me at mcrowe21@ivytech.edu.

Where: 24 Shelby Street, Indianapolis
More Info:
Attention all kickstarters, your rewards have arrived. Now it's time to meet the brewers, see the space and grab your swag!
Hundreds of local beer fans contributed to our successful Kickstarter campaign and we're inviting each and every one of you over to the future home of Indiana City on Friday, October 12th to pick-up your rewards: stickers, pints, openers, shirts and VIP passes. We just moved into the space at 24 Shelby Street and there’s a lot of work to do, but this is a great opportunity to meet the brewers, see the building and connect with local craft beer lovers and fellow Indiana City supporters. We know what you're thinking, but unfortunately we aren’t able to offer beer samples at this event.
